Love

Love is a wild fire
that burns with hope and desires.

Love is like a flower blowing in the wind.
Love is when your mate cares deeply from within.

Love is built on strong hopes
and sometimes causes couples to elope.

Love comes from the heart.
You'll know it right from the start.

- Becky Bunch, age 12
Sun
Sun

The sun wakes you up in the morning.
A smile on your face is what it will bring.

I'm really sad
and it makes me mad
when the sun is not there.
I ask, "Where are you, sun, where?!"

I really like the sun.
Big black clouds are no fun!

- Kristen Whittle, age 12

A Sunflower Touch

A sunflower lies in everyone,
deep inside your heart.
And when you're angry or sad,
it withers apart.
But when you're happy or glad,
it takes the parts it had
and grows back
So try not to lack
good feeling inside your heart,
So your sunflower will not fall apart.

- Nicole Duras, age 12
Love

Love is a thing in your heart.
Love your heart in a joyful way,
Then you know the love in
Your heart will stay.

Love all living things around the Earth.

For love is a thing in
your heart.

- Shabreka Ford, age 12
Red

Red is the
color of your
noses and cheeks
in the winter.

Red resembles roses for
mommies and daddies.

Red is the sight
of blood.

Red is love, yet madness.

Red is nice,

Red is cool,

Red is me.

- Becky Mohl, age 12
Rose

The Red Rose

I woke up one morning
and found a beautiful red rose
from a secret admirer
that no one knows.

Every day I would wake up
and there was the rose,
standing on my dresser
in a perfect pose.

Every time I looked at it
I thought of it as art,
because deep down inside me,
it was the winner of my heart.

Once the petals started falling,
I found myself bawling.
For when I buried that beautiful red rose,
it was full of love forever.

- Renee Perkins, age 12

Mothers

A mother is one's love.
A mother is like a dove.
A mother is a child's care.
She's always willing to share.
A mother is also a child's best friend.
This is what a mother is to me!
She's a T L C person to kids!

Friends

Friends are people you trust, and
you care for.
Friends are people you don't
let down or make cry.
Friends are the people who
look out for us.
Friends share and give,
but don't take.
Friends are the people you
could live with, but not without.
Friends are: kind, sweet, caring,
sharing, tender, loving, giving.
Best friends are people everyone
could and should have!

- Miranda Ford, age 12
When I Think of You

Roses are red
Violets are blue
And I think
You're beautiful, too.

I think of you
Day and night
And I think you are
A beautiful sight.

- Rick Gadd, 6th grade

Cool Breezes

Cool breezes sweep the sunny plains,
Cool breezes are constant during a pouring rain.
Cool breezes meet the shores by the water,
Where seashells and sandcastles are the most popular.
Cool breezes in a damp cave
Bring the stormy winds to a rage.
Cool breezes dance on a playground;
Because of them, children are all around.
Cool breezes are found at a number of places-
In nooks and crannies and in all kinds of spaces.
Cool breezes bring the Spring seeds
Which later become our garden weeds.
Cool breezes are a common joy
That make summers happy for every girl and boy.

- Brittany Thorne, age 12

Butterfly
Butterflies

Butterflies are pretty,
So colorful and witty.
I like to watch them fly
So gracefully in the sky.
You must jump very high
To catch a butterfly.
Don't hold them very long,
For something could go wrong.
Butterflies, you see,
Were meant to be free!

- Andriena Rosati, 6th grade

Roses!

Roses are red,
Violets are blue. School's almost out,
And I'm HAPPY, too!

- Miranda Ford, 6th grade

The New Girl

The new girl is shy,
And I don't know why.
She lives on my street.
Her house is very neat.
She has blue eyes,
And she likes cool guys.
Her favorite color is green.
Thank goodness she's not mean!
She's the new girl.

- Miranda Ford, 6th grade

Blueberry

Blue

Blue is a great color.
Blue is the color of the sky,
all bright and high.
Blue is the way you feel
when you are ill.
Blue is the color of blueberries,
all ripe and ready to pick.
Blue is the very best color.

- Becky Bunch, 6th grade

Tonight

My Dad has gone off tonight. Tonight is bad night.
It makes me feel uptight.

All I wanted to do is Say one thing,
Which was to say "good-night".

- Becky Mohl, 6th grade

Summer

Summer is like the ocean tide;
It always comes and goes.
Summer is like a little garden;
The flowers always hold a pose.

Summer brings joy and fun,
Like eating a hot-dog on a bun.
Summer has its rainy days,
But patience and willingness to wait always pays.

- Helen Binder

Crayon

The Crayola King

The Crayola king
Would always sing
While in the shower
Every colorful hour.
Red was the color
Of his head.
He rested and slept
In an orange bed.
He created YELLOW
When he would BELLOW.
He always turned green
When he acted mean.
Blue was the color
Of his Nike shoes.
Purple was the robe
He wore to watch the news.

- Brittany Thorne, 6th grade

Summer

Summer's cool.
You can act like a fool.

You don't go to school.
Everyone goes to the pool.

It's a time for fun,
And you're always on the run!

- Kristen Whittle, 6th grade

Orange

Orange is beautiful.
Orange is bright.
Orange is beautiful in the sunlight.
Orange is sweet.
Orange is sun.
Orange is bright, beautiful, and fun!

- Chelsea Austin, 6th grade

Blue Smile

Blue is a clear day and
a flowing river.
Blue is a tear from the death
of a man.
Blue makes up nebulas
and soft, tropical breezes.
Blue can be happiness with a
tear, and a dark, colorful sun.
Blue is the sweet taste
of blueberries.

- Michael McCavitt, age 12

Pineapple Soup

I like my pineapple soup.
I eat it in one big scoop.
It tastes kind of keen,
If you know what I mean,
So try some pineapple soup.

- Helen Binder, 6th grade

My Little Dog

My little dog is like a hog.
He swims like a frog!
My little dog is not an ordinary dog.
He eats and eats
Then falls asleep.

- Brett Denney, 6th grade

Dog
Spot

There once was a dog named Spot.
He lived on an elegant lot.
He chewed on some bones
And barked in high tones,
Which angered people a lot.

- David Johstono, 6th grade

Bully

Bobby was a big bully.
He bashed baby boys in their backs.
One day he thought
He shouldn't have fought.
When a bigger bully came by,
Bobby started to cry.
