Life What are the colors of life? Could be black for endless strife Red is the color of the heart, when cupid fires his aimless dart, The sky is blue or gray It just shows how life can change day by day Yellow is the color of sunlight and spring flowers I bask in them hour after hour. Green as the emerald sea Brings peace to mind and tranquility, Angels wings of sparkling white lifting me up to flight. So what are the colors of your life? - C. Mcguirk, age 13 In My Mind In my mind I think of thoughts I'll never reveal I think of lovers and haters they all come together as one As I sing a rap song in my head my thoughts are crowded, one against the other One right, one wrong I'm going crazy! I'm losing my mind! It's like I want to die! But when I think of life I smile and think again - Anthony Green My Poem No more leaf, no more star no more bird that travels far I have journeyed very far but I'll come back cause earth is where I belong. - Jessica Penello, age 7 A Frog One day Frog was in his bed. It was night and he sang a bed song And Frog was dizzy because he sang so long. The next morning. . . He put his shirt on backwards And when he got to school He put his coat and bookbag in the school's pool!!!!! - Shakia B. Spring Spring is here And the flowers are growing On the trees. Flowers are green, red, yellow, Purple, pink and orange. Grass is getting darker. Sun is shining in your window When you wake up. Spring is here And I can run very, very fast With my spring clothes on. - Chanel T. Winter Winter is when it is cold. The cold makes me mad. The cold makes my nose run And then I feel bad. But I like the snow because it is cold. You can make a snowman. I like watching the snow fall. I can make a print of my hand. - Ashley S. Colors Roses are red, Violets are blue, My face is brown But what about you? Some are black Others are yellow, But what ever way you put it My face is just really mellow. - Rita Brown A Poem As the cool rushes of the waters dance in the wind, a song fills the atmosphere around you. You feel as if you're as light as a feather, flying through the mist of the wind. Just then angels appear with their magnificent wings and smiling faces soft and magical. In this world of wonders, the angels shall speak, they have written a note as sweet as honey and as kind as a kiss. They have said: "Life will go on with sorrow inside, yet faith spreads within you, for you have been blessed by an angel's heart and have been honored by a beauty of soul." - Allie Rose, age 9 Dreams Up there somewhere, in the sky above, white silk doves fly gracefully through the sky, leading and teaching you how one must seek one's dreams, so dream your dreams and dream them with soul. - Allie Rose, age 9 A Poem Sometimes you wonder what will occur inside this mixed up world. The cool air flows through the meadows of conscience and lands inside a hole, as the hole's purpose remains "BURIED." The heart of the air keeps on beating through the harmful winds and the crashing moments. Written on that heart is a note and it says: Your thoughts, so vivid, that it can lift you off your feet into the wonders, the wonders of the atmosphere that stands before, so high up that you must look down to see heaven. A new soul is replacing your old soul for a new background which awaits you in your second life! - Allie Rose, age 9 Once There Was No Rhyme Once upon a time there was no such thing as rhyme and nothing sounded right when people dared to write. But then a little girl whose name was Lilly Pearl called her brother Tommy... and then she shouted "Mommy!" She said it once again then ran to find a pen. She wrote each word one time and so invented Rhyme!. - Shoshana Kurzweil A Dog on a Log Remember Lilly Pearl that special little girl who once invented rhyme then used it all the time? One day, she saw a dog just sitting on a log looking so alone just like it had no home. She waited for a while but then she had to smile, 'Cause doggy wagged its tail and when it did, it sailed right down on the ground and made a plopping sound. It made dear Lilly giggle, and made that doggy wiggle, then jump and yip and yap and climb right on her lap. It licked and licked her cheek, which made dear Lilly squeak. But then she heard a sound and doggy hit the ground, running toward its home, leaving Lilly all alone. She wished she had a dog, like the one upon the log. - Shoshana Kurzweil The Bully Lilly Pearl and her brother Tommy were on their way to school. Lilly looked so pretty and Tommy looked real cool. They walked and talked when, suddenly, a big tall boy appeared and blocked their way with outstretched arms, filling them with fear. "Stop!" he yelled (an awful sound), "and do just what I say!" "Give me all your money and then I'll go away." Well, Lilly and her brother-- they were really kind of scared. They wished that they could disappear and go just anywhere. Or better yet..if Mom and Dad could magically appear. They would make that bully run cowering in fear. But Mom and Dad were both at home and no one else was there. So Lilly thought real hard, then said: "Wait..I know! There's prayer!" The prayer was short. Just one word. "HELP!" and that was all But suddenly, that bully didn't look as big and tall A funny thing was happening. They were getting braver. And bully boy was backing off. His courage seemed to waver. They never knew what happened there, but Bully went away, and they were both so happy that they'd learned at home to pray. - Shoshana Kurzweil Tolly Timson and the Salt Saga Tolly Timson took the table salt. He was halfway when he came to a horrifying halt. (While proceeding to put the porridge in the proper bowl; Some salt slipped into his shoe; right to the sole!) Screaming, squawking in sidesplitting smiles, Thumping, treading on tattered old tiles. 'This thing seems to tickle my toes like thread,' That awkwardly astonished, arrogant boy said. ‘Mama made me mop the mat, Specially the spot where the spilled salt sat. My crepe-soled shoes, now as clean as the new tide, I can’t believe, was full of Sodium Chloride!’ Now Tolly Timson who turned wiser today, Anyhow, anytime, anywhere, anyway, Will never spill salt in his crepe-soled shoe ever again. (But he has happened to have spilled it on the windowpane!) - Insiyah Amiruddeen, age 15, Sri Lanka Holidays Holidays are for enjoying everything, When you can, To rest your mind From everyday life, To pamper your family, In wonderful ways, To revive childhood friendships (Treasured most are they) To explore your own surroundings, The beauty of nature, In your hands, And let your mind recapture The fond memories of yesterday. - Insiyah Amiruddeen, age 15, Sri Lanka My Heart Of Stone My heart, they say, Does not care a damn for anyone, Or anything that lives on Earth, Or underneath the Sun. My heart, they say, Is like the rocks that lie by the sea, That makes the calm water hurt itself, When the shore it comes to meet. But they don’t know, That my heart knows more Than what they seem to think. It has the love that saves this world, From hatred and self-defeat. And if my heart was no more, You’d only stop to think, “Was that the heart that loved everyone, Be them bitter or so sweet?” - Insiyah Amiruddeen, age 15, Sri Lanka Wonderful Nite As the Moon comes out on this wonderful starry nite I thanked the lord because he let you be with me tonite.
