Soaring High

Good Night

Good night
Shine bight
May your dreams come true
And please don't let them be blue
Good night
Sleep tight

- Ryan, age 10

Cycle of Sorrow

If you hurt someone today,
Then pain will follow you on your way,
Because you've started a cycle of sorrow,
That person may hurt someone tomorrow,
It's a full circle that always returns,
And you'll reap whatever it earns,
Then you'll know that you've lost your tomorrow,
To this hopeless cycle of sorrow.

- Amy, age 12

Butterflies

Light like a feather
wings as soft as silk
bright like the sun
flying from flower to flower
butterflies

- Catherine, age 13

A Cup of Wine

The rain, the shine, and a cup of wine
I can't do anything without
The rain, the shine, and a little cup of wine
The rain, the shine, and a little cup of wine
I can't think of anything to do without
The rain, the shine, and a little cup of wine
I can't eat when it's raining
I can't sleep when it's shining
And I can only drink wine

The Ocean

The ocean is very big
and sometimes under a bridge
It is beautiful and bright
"OH!" What a sight
The fishes swimming in the ocean
Some go in a really slow motion
The water is scary, the water is deep
But that's where the fishes go to sleep

I Remember

I remember your eyes you touch your smile.
I remember the way you laught and would sit next to me for a while.
I even remember the way you would pick up our child and swing her around
Then kiss her.
I had all these things but then you passed away

- Catherine, age 13

I Remember

I remember how we use to play our little games
I remember how you used to
look in my eyes and say I love you
I remember your touch, your smile, your voice
All these things i remember to this day.

- Catherine, age 13

Snug Little Bugs

If I were a little bug
Sitting in a tree
I wish that you were
Sitting right by me.

We could sit together
And look into the trees
Find out where the honey was
By watching all the bees.

When the summer rains
Pour down from above
We would count our blessings
For being bugs in love.

When the winter wind
Blows thru the pines
We will snuggle up together
The cold would never cross our minds.

Puppy Love

Have you ever seen an angel
Who has no wings at all?
A furry black and tan bundle
Less than 12 inches tall.

She is the cutest companion
I could ever want
She loves to ride with me
And wants to sit up front.

She is so soft and cuddly
Her kisses are so sweet
The cutest little gal
Who ever walked on four feet.

She really is a baby
Down from Heaven above
She cares for me unconditionally
The gift of puppy love.

Shoot the Wumpus!

We ran through the woods
With the dogs in the lead,
And chased the Wumpus,
A mythical breed.

With big claws and savage teeth,
A Wumpus is roughly the size of a bear.
It ran with speed
To its hidden lair.

Whilst in the cave we heard it groan,
We tread with care,
And smelt its putrid stench.
We fired in the air.

The Wumpus came charging
With pain and ire.
Joe cried, "Shoot the Wumpus!"
The situation was dire.

I opened up on that mythical beast,
And watched it collapse
With Joe embraced.
That was the end, perhaps.

Water

Water, water you're so blue
Water, water we drink you!

Plastic Smile

I paint a plastic smile on my face,
Then I'm out the door,
Another day at school,
I can't seem concentrate.
Knowing that you aren't there is killing me.
I didn't get to say bye.
Or tell you how much that I cared
how much that I loved you is just lurking in my mind.
Did you even know that I cared this much?
Its been a few years since you left me that summer day.
I don't have to paint the plastic smile on anymore.
But it still hurts to think about you sometimes.
You are always in my heart.
And I think constantly......
are you looking out for me?
making sure that things are ok?
I can't wait till the day that we are together again.
But we will have to wait till that times comes
I miss you soooo much.
I love you with all my heart
and you're always in my dreams.
When we are together again I can be your little Pudding Pop again.
And we will never be apart again,
with each other for all eternity
the way things should be.
Me with you and you with me.

- Amy, age 13

Sweet is......

Sweet is the humming bird
with its sweet humming sound.
Sweet is the necter
pound after pound.
Sweet is their grace
as they flitter around.
But far more sweeter than any of these,
is that God made these delightful little things.

It's Just A Crush

it's just a crush, i say inside,
in denial, i am trying to hide.

I couldn't love him, we just met.
but this thing i'm feeling, i don't regret.

I couldn't be in love, he isn't right.
If thats true, why do i put up such a fight?

these feelings are so hard to describe.
i wish you could explain,
what i am feeling inside.

i don't understand it,
so how could he?
i wish that he would just see!
me..

but its just a crush....

and he gives me such a rush.........

Gossamer Flight

Deep inside the crystal forest
Where many fear to go
Is a place of peace and harmony
Where the springs of eternity flow.

This is where the faeries live
And pass away the hours
Dancing in the trees,
Playing in the flowers.

Faeries flitting on gossamer wings
Is a common sight
Their wings of rainbow colors
Unfold, gently taking flight.

Come and take the journey
To find your child within
Open up you heart and mind
And watch the magic begin.

Blue

Blue is the crisp, bright morning sky
That opens up the world.
Blue is a rubber balloon
That flies hopelessly away to the heavens above.
Blue is a wrinkled piece of paper
That a child shown proudly to his mother.
Blue is the twinkling eyes of a girl
Who is filled with endless laughter.
Blue is the sleek feathers of a bluebird
That soars without fear in the cloudless sky.
Blue is the sparkling sea
That stretches far beyond wonder.

Blue is the cry of a hungry kitten
That has given up hope.
Blue is the tears of the sky
That washes away color.
Blue is the long, unforgiving winter
That is overcome with grief.
Blue is the worry of an abandoned child
Who predicts the future to come.
Blue is when sadness
Overcomes one's soul.

- Kristina, age 11, California (This was a color poem)

Moon

Silvery face of hope
Past creation of desire
Silence in the sky
As one wonders how afar
Could peace be eternity.

Send My Friend An Angel

Please send my friend an angel
Send her one of mine
A loving and caring one
The best that you can find.

Please send my friend an angel
And trust her with its care
Someone or something for her to love
And to always be there.

Please send my friend an angel
One to help her fill her days
With hope, love, and laughter
And the warmth of sunshine rays.

Please send my friend an angel
You know she gave me one of mine
Please send her down an angel
A true friend's hard to find.

The Ghost of Birthdays Past

The Ghost of Birthdays Past is hovering about you
He's not a scary ghostie, here's what he plans to do
He's waiting for this Birthday to become a memory
He'll gather every moment and store it carefully

He has every one you know, documented, labeled, tagged
All the years you lamented, the few of which you bragged
He's a very careful hoarder, and every year gets bolder
He gets fuller and richer, as you keep getting older

He isn't stingy with his loot, he'll very gladly share
He'll open up a memory anytime you'd care
To take a walk down memory's hall
A favorite bike, new clothes, a doll
A special trip the family took
A favorite author's brand new book

So when on your Birthday, you feel something's there
Please, don't be worried, don't search around and stare
It's only the Ghost of Birthdays Past
Collecting memories so the joy can last.

Lesson

Fresh colors of spring:
yellow
purple
green
white
pale beneath an endless blue roof.

Young buds bring life to trees
left desolate by winter's wrath.

Smokey souls of leaves drift
in remembrance of an autumn past.

Cool morning breeze
Warm afternoon sun
brightness
shadows

Flock

Black birds,
Flying like a blanket,
Folding and swaying,
Against the strength
of the wind.

The Flea, the Whale and Me

"And who are YOU" I asked the flea.
"Why do you jump? It puzzles me?"

I may be jumpy and annoying, very small as you can see,
but I am surely God's idea, and He created me.

"And who are YOU?" I asked the whale.
"And why so strong your mighty tail?"

My body's huge, my eyes are small, my back spouts water as you see,
but I am also God's idea, and He created me.

"And who are YOU" they asked of me.
"And why such curiosity?"

YOUR shape is very strange to us
So why the questions? What's the fuss?
God is full of great ideas
for He has made the THREE of us.

Just Precious

She's a precious little girl
Everybody knows
She's precious from
Her head down to her toes
A precious little mouth
A precious little nose
Precious from her head
Down to her toes
Precious Precious
Precious little face
Precious little nose
Precious from her head
Down to her toes
Precious little eyes
Precious little nose
Precious from her head
Down to her toes
Precious little ears
Precious little nose
Precious from her head
Down to her toes
Precious Precious
Precious little fingers
Precious little nose
Precious from her head
Down to her precious
Little toes
Precious Precious
